Comfrey has a long history of use in herbalism and is treasured for it's beneficial properties. Other uses are companion planting and composting. The leaves contain high levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium along with other nutrients that are essential for optimal plant growth.  Use the leaves and crowns as mulch, make a compost tea, or add leaves to existing composts.  Bonus, the pollinators love the blooms! Comfrey is a herbaceous perennial preferring full to part sun and well drained soil.   Direct sowing is recommended. (It is not recommended to plant indoors prior to growing season.) After danger of frost, plant seeds just below soil surface, approx. 1\/4 inch,  and tamp in securely. Keep seedlings moist until plant is established. Germination may take up to 30 days depending on soil temperature.  Leaves can be lightly harvested during first year of growth. Minimizing your first year harvest will enable your plant to create a strong root system. These are the same plants used for our best selling Comfrey Salve and Comfrey Oil. They are grown using organic practices-  free of harmful chemicals, metals, and pesticides. Arrives in a kraft envelope with 20 + seeds. We like to thrown in a few extra to grow on.
